Bio
Where did I start?
I started my working career in 1989, leaving school to pursue a Mechanics apprenticeship in Melbourne. During that time, I completed my studies in record time and was awarded Australian Apprentice of the Year. My employer saw potential in me and offered me another apprenticeship in Auto Electrics, which again I finished in record time.
Not long after I completed my apprenticeships, I started a mobile service company and worked my way up to Cairns, where I sold the business to make way for my dream of working in IT.
What has my time at Future IT Services looked like?
I purchased the business, then known as Future Cairns, in February 2003. The company had operated since 1996 as part of the Future Group, and, in 2007, I rebranded it to Future Computers to better reflect our focus on supplying workstations, laptops, servers and networking equipment. As technology evolved and our clients’ needs changed, we moved into basic break-fix IT support, and over the years since, we’ve transitioned again into a genuine managed IT provider, building out proactive support, Essential Eight-aligned cyber security support and device-as-a-service offerings, officially rebranding from Future Computers to Future IT Services in 2024 to reflect just how much we’d grown.
Where do I see Future IT Services heading?
As the tech landscape keeps changing and evolving, our offerings keep evolving too. We’re continuing to build out our cyber security packages around the Essential Eight framework, tailoring them further so clients can meet more complex compliance requirements and stay protected against threats that are more advanced every year. I’m also looking closely at how AI can genuinely help the businesses we work with, not as a buzzword, but as practical tools we can bring into our offerings to help clients improve how they operate day to day.
Genuine customer support has always been at the centre of what I do and how we deliver our services. If you’d like to have a chat or learn more about the business and what we do, connect with me on LinkedIn.
